Final Fantasy X When Can I Go Back to Besaid

Wait for the Airship, then you have the possibility to travel in the whole Spira. But be prepared when you will be back in Besaid.

Yeah, I know, Dark Valefor is there. Which is why... I was hoping it was possible in some way to get it now.

Just beat Spherimorph and now the Jecht Spheres are unlocked. Is it possible for me to go all the way back to Besaid on foot to get the Jecht Sphere there, and all the others along the way? Or am I blocked off in some way? If so, how far back can I go? I don't think it'd take too long if I turn on No Encounters and put it at 4x speed.

You can, yes. I'm considering it myself. If you wait for the airship, a very nasty surprise awaits you on your return to besaid.

I managed to get back to the Moonflow and get up to 4 Jecht Spheres but... I can't seem to get past the Operation Mi'hen ruins. Is there any way to get back to Mushroom Rock Road?

Edit: Nevermind, I got it. To get past the Operation Mi'hen ruins, you need to climb up the crates on the beach.

Even after Spherimorph, Dark Valefor doesn't appear at Besaid until you complete the events at Macalania Temple. Until then, you can freely walk all the way back to Luca, then catch the two ferries back to Besaid Island.

To conclude:
Yes, you can walk to Besaid. And with x4 Speed and No encounters it's not that big of a deal.

I did this and it worked just fine.

I am looking at the crates but have no idea how to climb them.

Go from the Djose highroad to get to Mushroom Rock

You can walk back, but why bother? It's not like Auron's Overdrive is that great.

I went back for the spheres after you get the airship. Pretty easy to obtain the sphere in Besaid if you use Yojimbo's Zanmato ability.

The whole freaking game is easy if you use zanmato.

That's very true, but using him to get past the Dark Aeons rather than the whole freaking game seems forgivable.

Dark Valefor is the easiest of the bunch. Really hard if you compare it to final story boss or something but haven't we all grinded enough to do almost 99999 damage with one attack? Valefor has only 800.000 hp. You need 9 hits to kill him. Summon aeon -> overdrive -> summon another -> repeat till all aeons are dead. If you still need more damage, you have Wakka's OP overdrive.

For those of us who want to leave the Dark Aeons intact for when we start on the postgame, yes, it's very possible to backtrack to Besaid. In fact I just did that last night. Usually I'm not too big on the boosters, but since I would have done it anyway, disabling encounters was quite convenient.

Also picked up Wakka's "Ace Wizard" along the way on one of the ships for counting gulls. Pretty beastly weapon I never knew existed, but mostly useless due to my Wakka not being built as a mage due to Attack Reels.

Just run up them, and run down the, er... arm... to exit the area.
